DAI Palliative Care Group
Tim Cousounis oversees the Health Care Practice of Digital Action, directs the Practice’s palliative care engagements, and also serves as the Managing Director of the DAI Palliative Care Group. He is a certified health care executive (CHE) with two decades worth of pioneering accomplishments within the palliative care sector. As a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, he serves on its Business Practices Task Force, and has presented on Emerging Trends in HPM Physician Compensation at the AAHPM Annual Assembly. During his 25-plus years of health care management experience, Tim has been instrumental in:
- starting up a certified hospice serving the largest health system in the Philadelphia marketplace
- forming an academic health center-based Center for Palliative Care to “initiate changes in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education to ensure that today’s and tomorrow’s practitioners have relevant knowledge and skills to care well for those with life-limiting illness”
- conceiving and securing funding for the Project for Palliative Care Excellence, a joint venture between a health foundation, a university, and health provider organizations to establish “mechanisms through which long-term changes in end-of-life care will result”
- convening (for a regional health system) a Palliative Care Summit to identify existing and emerging resources and competencies around palliative care.
Tim's published writing consistently advocates for “accountable palliative care organizations” as an effective model for realizing the potential of improved end-of-life care.
